TWILIGHT THRILLER RADIO: SHERLOCK HOLMES

For Fall 2021, Twilight Thriller Radio is presenting three new radio plays based on Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. First up, join us for a live staged reading of The Adventure of the Devil's Foot on Oct. 27! The play introduces John Watson and his friend Sherlock Holmes to the Twilight Thriller Radio podcast, hosted by AC Doyle, and tells the tale of mysterious deaths and madness in Cornwall while Holmes and Watson are on vacation. MEET THE CAST AND CREW

In order of appearance

Joan Concilio (playwright and AC Doyle): Joan Concilio is a former Pennsylvanian living in the (truly unbelievably hot) Arizona desert. Professionally, they make websites, and for fun, they make websites, and also enjoy reading, talking with their hands, going on ridiculous adventures, giving away stuffed penguins, scrapbooking and doing jigsaw puzzles. This is Joan's second year participating in virtual theater with Upstart.

Laura Kate Marshall (Dr. John Watson): Laura Kate Marshall is an internationally, classically trained soprano and actress. A versatile artist, Laura has performed in Opera, Zarzuela, Musical Theatre, and Art Song, on Broadway, across the United States, and in Europe. She was most recently engaged as The Duchess of Alba in The Immorality of Thought- The Life of Francisco de Goya for the American Playwrights Guild, and in Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance at The Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. In 2019, Laura served as music director and vocal coach for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for the historic Colonial Playhouse, for Philadelphia’s YPTC program’s The Lion King Jr., as well as for the Kimmel Center’s One Musical Philadelphia production of Cinderella. Upcoming roles include: Queen Alonsa in Delaware Shakespeare Festival’s 2022 production of The Tempest! Laura began her music studies at NYU and holds a degree in Classical Vocal Performance and a Masters degree in Historical Vocal Performance.

Carolyn Stewart (Sherlock Holmes): Carolyn Stewart Morales hails from Mexico and Scotland. She moved back to New York in 2013. This will be Carolyn’s second show with Upstart Arts. And she incredibly excited to share it with you all. Enjoy the show!

Ashley White (Mr. Roundhay): Ashley White is from Central Pennsylvania. She has an AA in Theatre Arts Performance from Northampton Community College, a BA in Theatre Arts Performance from Florida Southern College, and a MLitt and MFA in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin College. She is excited to work with Upstart Arts again and wants to thank her friends and family for their ongoing support. Special thank you to her husband Andrew for putting up with her all these years.

Priscilla McFerren (Mortimer Tregennis): Priscilla McFerren is delighted to be part of this Sherlock adaptation. She and husband Hal moved to State College in 2007. Thinking that involvement with theatre in York was a thing of the past, the pandemic happened and she has been happily participating remotely with Upstart Arts and Stay-at-Home Shakespeare ever since.

Ashar Otto (stage manager and Mr. Logan): Ashar has done many different theatre productions with different groups. He has done some very fun productions with Upstart Arts though his favorite thing to do for Upstart is being stage manager. Ashar has recently moved cross country to Arizona.

Jacky Perez Soto: (Dr. Lenina Sterndale): Jacqueline (Jacky) Perez Soto is a 24 year old girl from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is an actress, dancer and singer who started in the world artistic in 2017 with a play called “El Gran Baile de la Luna Llena” in Broadway Theatre, then  “Spa de Princesas” in Paseo La Plaza Theatre, “Jovenes en Acción”, “La Escuela del Mundo Al Revés” and many other theatre plays as well as so many shows dancing and singing.

Michelle Denise Norton (director): Michelle is the creative engine for Upstart Arts as well as an artist and writer. In addition to directing classic and modern plays, she has written adaptations of Dickens and Poe. Look for her newest work in an upcoming Twilight Thriller Radio production, The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle.
